SUGAR plays at this festival August 23rd, 11am, at the Rigler screen.

Posted: Fri., Aug. 1, 2008, 2:15pm PT "Feel Good fest all for happy endings" "Rainn Wilson to screen 'New Bozena' short
By MICHAEL JONES
At most film fests, finding upbeat fare is about as likely as seeing unicorns.Enter the new Feel Good Film Festival, which plans to unspool only pics with happy endings Aug. 22-24 at Hollywood's Egyptian Theater.

Some 53 films are slated so far, with typical festival hallmarks such as navel-gazing and family dysfunction replaced by warm-fuzzy titles such as "Angels in the Hood," "Girls of Summer" and "Feelings and Stuff."

"It's not our intent to screen films that are 100% G-rated or religious," says fest director Kristen Ridgway, "But we do believe our audience members will leave our theaters feeling better than when they entered 100% of the time."

Unable to land a big sponsor to foot the bill, Ridgway and others are funding this inaugural effort themselves. They hope to generate enough good vibrations to woo some good-feeling, deep pocketed backers for year two.

The fest's web site features a big yellow sunflower sporting sunglasses and opening night promises a cheery yellow carpet. "The Office's" Rainn Wilson hosts the sugar-coated curtain-raiser, "The Rainbow Tribe" about "the best summer camp experience ever," and will screen his own short, "The New Bozena." Funnyman Jonathan Winters will be honored on closing night. Even ribald hitmaker Judd Apatow shows his sunny side, with a short titled "American Storage."

Naturally, there are few losers at this happy fest: A boatload of Feel Good awards will spread the love in categories ranging from best feel-good film to favorite feel-good pic.

Read the full article at:
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117989938.html

SUGAR

http://www.gweb.org/1/post/2008/05/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit10.html

http://www.gweb.org/1/post/2008/05/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit10.html#comments

Uncategorized

Here's SUGAR, a film I produced in Chicago in 2007.
